The marathon was great! Even if I was the last person to finish, at least I DID finish >_>

10 players started, but 4 fell out in Sonic 1 due to epic failure in special stages. The rest made it to the finish at a rather leisurely pace.

WINNER: Thorn 3h00m34s
2nd: Fuzzerd 3h19m58s
3rd: Douglas 3h27m49s
4th: RPG 3h42m12s
5th: Miles 3h43m19s
6th: SonicAD 3h47m23s
7th: werster dropped before Star Light 2 after failing the special stage, as he had 4 emeralds with only 1 more opportunity available
8th: Cruizer dropped before Star Light 2 after failing the special stage, as he had 4 emeralds with only 1 more opportunity available, and places 8th since he got there later than werster.
9th: mike89 dropped in Labyrinth 1 after not making the special stage, as he had 2 emeralds with only 3 more opportunities available.
10th: Spinballwizard dropped before Spring Yard 3 as there were 4 special stages left available and he had collected 1 of the 6 emeralds.

Also my runs are attached.

Well, tonight's race was an incredibly ambitious undertaking: a Sonic Marathon with all emeralds. Knowing how many people dropped out in Sonic 1 just in the standard race, something was always going to give here... and it did.

10. Spinballwizard - ragequit after SY2
9. mike89 - quit after Lab1
8. Cruizer - quit after Lab2
7. werster - ineligible after SL1

Yes, you read that right. werster and I both knocked out on Sonic 1. And quite a few scary moments, I think both Fuzzerd and Miles got their last emerald on SL2.

The stage was therefore set for SonicAD to claim 4th place or better and reclaim his long-standing bet with me over the fate of the first marathon. This meant beating two of Fuzzerd, Douglas, RPG, Thorn and Miles - and all of them went into S3K with a substantial headstart. Let's see how the remainder finished:

6. SonicAD - 3h47m23s
5. Miles - 3h 43m19s
4. RPG - 3h42m12s

Oh well, pretty close. Only five minutes away from the money.

Third was douglas in the time of 3h27m49s, which Fuzzerd said was better than he thought anyone would do - funny, cause douglas's last few levels included such gems as 6 minute SO2.

Fuzzerd himself came in second with 3h19m58s, a respectable time but nothing compared to the runaway winner...

Thorn, in a time of 3h00m34s!

Congratulations to Thorn (and indeed, everyone who finished)!

<3 Thorn.

To be fair, my ragequit was because I was ineligible as I only had one emerald at that point.
<Tails> also "GET BLUE SPHERES" on a black-and-white TV remains the best special stage of all time

<Achlys> wat ave you done!
<Spinballwizard> apparently killed your h key

I'll accept prizes in the form of donations to my PayPal, admins on the site or forum or chat, the ability to delete posts instead of just modify them, or a lovely sig banner like I gave the first Marathon winner.~

What? No, it totally wasn't a banner I did for Spinny with Spinny's name scribbled out!

EDIT: Oh, duh, recordings. Not posting the Sonic 3D Blast run, as nobody else joined me. :(

EDIT 2: Prize received! I must joke like this more often.

I didn't have time to do the full marathon, and I would fail out in S1 anyway, so I only did Sonic 3. As it was, I finished at the same time the leaders started it. I was planning to do SnK too, but that didn't go as planned.

[20:08] <Thorn> I've had games silently give me the middle finger before
[20:09] <Thorn> but never, NEVER, has a game flipped me alternating birds while doing a little jig and sticking its tongue out
[20:09] <Thorn> that is, until this race

A so-so run of Angel Island 1 puts me in front, but starting with dickery in the tube in Angel Island 2, I fall farther and farther behind. Watch for examples of taking the AI2 tube twice, being in the wrong collision plane in MG2 and thus falling through the floor and hitting background walls, getting caught twice in three seconds by the LB2 boss, dying in the floor in MH1, playing MH2 without background music (although I know what caused that one), two zips in FB1 that went the wrong direction, instant death in FB2 via going under a rising object...

I somehow won at S2K tonight. How extraordinary! My run was actually pretty fail, but after a couple half-assed attempts to rush through Death Egg that immediately failed, I went for the fastest totally safe method I knew and even though Miles beat me to Death Egg by a huge margin, I pulled the win. Somehow. Probably never gonna happen again. >_>

You only won because Silver Sonic glitched for me!

^ The first account was banned a few days ago, and the second was banned at about 10 PM EDT last night. Didn't stop me from getting a post report from somebody at about 11 PM and your post there, though. I've left the posts because he's very easy to spot when he keeps returning to the same topic with the same basic user name.

Given what's been happening on streams, TSC Race Night may be worth a resurrection.
